Ferries to Antiparos

Antiparos is a small island beside Paros, and is ideally suited for peaceful holidays. In antiquity it was called Oliaros and on the neighbouring islet of Saliagos an important Neolithic settlement has been discovered, the oldest in the Cyclades. It is just 4.5 nautical miles from Parikia on Paros, with which it is connected by boat.
The capital and port of the island is Antiparos or Kastro, a picturesque settlement built around the 15th-century Venetian castle. The paved roads, white-washed lanes, houses adorned with flowers and the large square with its eucalyptus tree create a wonderful island atmosphere.
On the hill of Agios Ioannis (8 km south) is the cave of Antiparos with its marvelous stalagmites and stalactites. At its entrance is the most ancient stalagmite in Europe, which is 8 m. high. The cave is 90 m. deep, 50 m. wide and 40 m. high; 410 steps lead us to its three chambers. The many inscriptions testify to the multitude of visitors to the cave since ancient times. Outside the cave is the chapel of Ai-Giannis Spiliotis, where the saint’s name day is celebrated on 7 May with traditional dances and treats.
Discover the superb beaches of Antiparos, in particular that of Agios Georgios, in the south part of the island, ideal for diving and kayaking.
West of Antiparos are three small uninhabited islands of great archaeological interest. Despotiko, and Tsimintiri (between Antiparos and Despotiko) and Strongylo (west of Despotiko) are closely linked by the Cycladic culture and the historical evolution of the Aegean. Significant ancient objects have been found here that are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Paros. These islets can be visited with tourist caiques that start from the beach of Ag. Georgios.
